Mojo Monday...on Thursday!

I just returned from a girl's weekend of laughing, shopping, exchanging ideas, eating and creating.  I have a ton of new supplies but needed some direction because many ideas were racing into my head, but nothing was coming out on paper!  I wanted to use a sketch for inspiration and decided to enter this card in The Mojo Monday Challenge.

Here is my version of the above sketch!

Supplies Used:
patterned paper: Ducks by Recollections (Michaels)
cardstock: Kraft paper from Michaels, Purely Pomegranete, So Saffron, Lucky Limeade, and Chocolate Chip from Stampin' Up!
stamp: Happy Birdie to You by Savvy (outside) & Birthday Tweet (inside) by Endless Creations
white pen: Gelly Roll by Sakura
ribbon: Sweet Petites
punches: oval and scalloped oval by Marvy
embossing folders: Perfect Polka Dots by Stampin' Up!, Chevrons & Flourishes Set by Hero Arts/Sizzix
bling: Martha Stewart
ink: Chocolate Chip by Stampin' Up!

The inside of the card says, "Hope your birthday is tweet from sun up to sun down!"

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Valentine Card

I love giving gifts around Valentine's Day, so I have been a busy bee! Here is my Valentine to you! For those of you that stamp, here are the deets: glittery red ribbon from DeNami Designs, stamp from Stampin' Up, XOXO from Archiver's, raffia from Wal-Mart, paper, markers and ink from Stampin' Up. In the background of the above photo is a 2-tiered server (was my Granny's) and some neat scalloped-topped paper 'popcorn' treat containers that I picked up from Wal-Mart....you can find them in the party section in different colors! Below is a closeup of the card....I had to take it at an angle (because of the sun/my shadow) so you could see the pretty, glittery ribbon!

Happy July 4th!

We hope you have a nice July 4th! My scanner really didn't pick up the matchy-matchy of the blues but they match in real life!

Happy June!

I hope everyone is staying cool out there...it's been HOT, HOT, HOT here in SE Georgia. I have not had much crafting time but I hope to get back to it soon. Here is the card I made for June...enjoy!

Happy May Day!

Happy May Day! I remember when we used to dance around the Maypole in elementary school...sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but it seems that older photos 'speckle'. I wonder if kids still do this? It seems that a lot of the extra-curricular activities that I participated in as a child are a thing of the past.

I decided to make something light and airy for May, just like the dresses in these May Day photos. I hope you all have a great May and I'll be back in June!

Happy Easter!

Tom has just finished his last final for his first quarter of school and I have just wrapped up another work week. Spring is in the air and so is the pollen but the flowers and trees are so pretty! We wanted to wish you a Happy Easter and are looking forward to going to a family feast and egg hunt.

SPCC Challenge

I am all about the challenges lately! I checked my e-mail tonight and noticed this challenge loved the color combo! I remembered that I had this scrap of patterned "Friendship" paper in my stash, and some chocolate and pumpkin felt flowers in my flower drawer, so all I did was plunder in my brown ribbon drawer (y'all KNOW I'm the QUEEN of brown ribbon) and BAM! I could not get a great photo of the card...out of 15 photos, this was the best one. I added the pink flower at the end as I really prefer a grouping of 3 flowers when I cluster them. After I finished the card, I went back to the challenge to download the challenge photo and realized that it was a similar layout of Shauna's, but I really liked this card and hardly ever do what I call "long-card designs", so I decided to post it. Of course the card is SU's Pumpkin Pie (LOVE THIS COLOR), I believe the patterned paper if from Die Cuts With a View (it's 2 or 3 years old now and is the last of the 12X12 sheet), the felt flowers are from American Crafts (a HUGE Big Lots find of a whole $2 for a container FULL!), the pink daisy flower is from Making Memories, the bling is from Michaels, and the ribbon is from Hobby Lobby. Thanks for looking! I'm off to eat a piece of carrot cake and watch Dancing With the Stars...my guilty pleasure!

SPCC Blog Hop Challenge

Here is my latest challenge entry. I hopped around each blog in the challenge and found some cute stuff, but when I saw the color combo, I decided to use the butterfly stamp I just bought. I purchased the egg stamp from A Muse Artstamps awhile ago, and found the butterfly and Easter sentiment in the $1 bin at Michaels! I have yet again found a use for my Martha Stewart grass punch...I think I'll use it all year long as it is so versatile! Thanks for looking!

Easter "Baskets"

Our stamp club meets at an assisted living residence once a month. We decided to make something handmade for the residents to enjoy. Everyone received the same template in different pastel colors and will decorate them in their "style". Here is my interpretation!

Yummy Stamp Convention Finds!

Here are a few items I was tempted by! From left to right, top row...fun flock in brown (color something brown, put glue on top of the color, sprinkle this on top, dump off excess, let dry...dries FUZZY! I cannot wait to try it on my monkey stamps!), brown and pink/red buttons. From left to right, bottom row...paisley embossing folder (place paper inside the "folder", run this through a special machine and it makes raised paisleys in the paper!), and die cuts that you can run ribbon through (see sides).

Here are the make-and-take items I made at the convention. For those that don't know what a "make-and-take" is, it is a pre-designed item that is pre-cut by the owners of the company pushing the product, and then is put together by us, the unsuspecting purchasers! Some are free to make and take home, others cost money. They are a great way for vendors to show off products and for purchasers to be enticed by! I loved all of the stamps in the pink/brown card sooo much that I bought them all!

Here are a few misc items I "needed". Top row, left to right...rubon words, clear mini boxes to hold 4 Hershey nuggets or mini candies like Skittles/M&M's, and a die cut tag. Too bad my neighbor and friend, Irene, is not here to borrow it as she would LOVE IT! Bottom row, left to right..."Bib Card", "Bib Card Overlays", stamp pad is an embossing ink that has a frosted sparkle finish, and 10 boxes to decorate/hold goodies.

Here are the "sentiment stamps" I purchased. The long, skinny purple hearts has another side that has hearts going long-ways so it's a double-sided stamp! The one above it (with dots) makes fake or 'faux' ribbon. LOVE IT! My sister gave me the one about mom's and the birthday stamp underneath the easter saying. I really love the stamp in the top left as it could be used for a Valentine, a thinking of you or a sympathy stamp....LOVE IT TOO!

Here are the "image" stamps I bought. In between the sick pig and the turtle is a car. A child drew it for her mom's business. See the coffee mug and the coffee cup with lid in the bottom right corner? They fit inside the circle that says "Thanks a Latte"! My sister gave me the stamping monkey (see bottom left corner).

Well, that's about it! I hope you enjoyed the tour to the expansion of my "Empire"! Happy stamping!

New Challenge

I found a new website to browse, and there is a challenge to use 3 colors that fit perfectly with Valentine's Day AND with a new stamp that I've been dying to ink up! I received this cupcake stand stamp for Christmas and had bought the sentiment last year....it's from a set that was made in 2004. The two stamps go hand in hand rather famously, don't you think? Here is the color combo for the new challenge....

Here is my 'take' on the challenge! The inside sentiment says, "Happy Valentine's Day!" The deets are below. I really enjoyed coloring this cupcake stand. I wanted this stamp for it's versatility...it could really be used for multiple occasions. Enjoy!

Stamps: Image by Stampendous; sentiment by Stampin' Up
Paper: SU Whisper White, Apricot Appeal
Ink: SU Basic Black
Markers: SU Real Red, Apricot Appeal, Pretty in Pink, Gable Green
Ribbon: Offray

E-Card/Eppley Update Jan 2010

I know many of you have been receiving cards via mail over the last few years, but due to health reasons, I can no longer make mass amounts of cards at once. In short, the meds that eliminate the headaches knock me out and if I take them long term, I will have kidney damage, so I have opted to make an e-mail card instead. I will try very hard to photograph them to the best of my abilities. I'm looking forward to this new e-card venture/update so that I may share my cards with an infinite amount of friends/family.

I hope everyone is staying warm! It's been so very cold here in Georgia. Next week, we're supposed to have 50's during the day and 30's at night. That's much better than 30's during the day and teens at night!

Tom started 'orientation' this past week and starts class Monday. He's now attending South University's PA Program and will finish in 2 1/2 years. I've been a little under the weather so I don't have much other than this card to report.

I have had a Big Shot (machine that embosses or cuts out shapes) for a year now and have hardly used it until today. I found an "embossing folder" (a plastic piece that has shapes or designs) with snowflakes so I used solid blue paper and embossed the snowflakes into the paper. To those that don't stamp, just ignore the "deets" (details) below.

DEETS: paper by Stampin' Up (Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery), rubber stamp image by Elzybells NA, rubber stamp sentiment by A Muse Artstamps, ribbon by Offray, paper embossed with Quikutz "Snowflake".

Same Challenge, Different Card!

Here is my other entry for the color challenge. It's an "overdue" birthday card for a stamping buddy! Paper by Stampin' Up (Chocolate Chip and Barely Banana), rubber stamp by Penny Black (love it!), felt flowers by American Crafts, pearl bling by The Paper Studio, and ribbon by American Crafts.

Baby Card and Color Challenge

Here is my latest color challenge entry! All 4 colors are in the ribbon, which was the major influence in my design. This card is for someone who is delivering her baby very soon!

A Color Challenge

I finally decided to participate in my first "Color Challenge". I've been viewing Dawn McVey's website for months. She posted a color challenge for crafters to use as a guideline to become inspired. Above is the "inspiration".

Here is my "interpretation"...my photo isn't as professional as the one above but our porch has the best natural light. Thanks for looking!

Easter Cards for 2009...

Today is a gloomy, windy day so I decided to make some cards and play with my camera. Here are some shots I took of the cards I made today. Enjoy!
