Dixie Crystal Sugar Refinery Patients

After the sugar refinery explosion, I felt led to do something nice for the patients at the burn center in Augusta. Each patient recieved a different card. Here are a few highlights. Please keep them in your prayers as they still have a long road ahead.

My First Festival!

Sorry I've been gone so long....this is what I've been up to for the last few months! I've been feverishly stamping cards to participate in The Midway Art Festival. I sold 45 cards in 3 1/2 hours. MANY people browsed. One man told me to keep up the good work because cards are very important to people, especially when they come in the mail at the right moment. I think he must have been a stamper in a former life because I think that's one reason we do what we do! I love to brighten people's lives with my passion. Two ladies from Jacksonville were really fun customers. They shopped and talked about crafting! One young girl (who behaved JUST like I did when I was small...mature for her age and very well-behaved) bought a notebook from me with her OWN money from her OWN wallet. One little girl was with her grandmother and she asked her grandmother to buy her a notebook. It was so neat to know young people liked my stuff too! I really hope everyone that purchased something from me enjoys their loot!

My mother made my basket covers....aren't they just to die for? I
had 5 offers for them and at least 4 others just inquiring about them. She's famous now! Oh, and one of my stamping friends has asked me to ask her if she'll make her some too! She made them every night after working all day and they fit wonderfully! My yellow ribbons gave me a FIT to tie perfectly. No ribbon tied the same.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience for me. My friend, Parul, encouraged me to sign up for this shindig. My stamping friends and co-workers were very supportive by keeping me motivated over the last few months. My friend Suzi let me borrow her jade ring so I had good luck. My mom helped me pick out my setup (a several week long venture) and sewed all week long. My mom's friend, Mary, came by to help me get some ideas and put her stamp of approval on things. My friend, Patty, encouraged me and helped me out today. My husband taught me how to pitch a tent for the first time, put up with the house looking like Hallmark had thrown up all over, and helped me create my display of dangling cards. The owners of The Midway Gallery, the vendors at the festival, and the patrons were very nice and I saw a few people I haven't seen in quite awhile. I'll leave you with a before and after picture...

Caught A Bug

My friend, Sandi, stamped some of her cute bug stamps and mailed them to me because I had a "heard you caught a bug' sentiment (see right) with no bug to put with it. The blue dots in the ribbon really do match the blue paper in real life but the computer doesn't reflect that it matches. Oh well, I'm no computer techie, I'm a card maker.

Happy Easter

Here's a card I made recently. Enjoy! Hope y'all have a great Easter!

Stickles Are Out, At You Spica Glitter Pens from COPIC Are In!

These pens ROCK! They contain micro glass flakes that add a shimmery sparkle to your paper! They have twice the writing length of other pens, 360 yds! I guess that's a lot?! One thing to know....you MUST store them horizontally, not vertically or they will die! If you don't want to fool with glitter glue, this is the toy for you! I no longer leave home without mine. They come in many colors but I find that the clear one is the one you can't go wrong with. I'm entertaining a black one for my Cat's PJ's stamps and for my Vegas bunny! I bought mine from Ellen Hutson's website but A Muse Artstamps has them for sale too! I'm not sure that you can see the sparkle in this card but I posted it just in case! It FLOORED ME!

How Does Your Card Collection Grow?

I made these cards for my aunt and made a few extra to keep for friends/family. I really needed some misc backstock for my card box! Enjoy!

They Say It's Your Birthday!

Whew! There sure were a lot of Oct birthdays this year! I really love sending birthday cards to people but I detest the way mine turn out. Alas, I was happy this month with what I was able to create. I liked the dinosaur one sooooo much a few of you got him! I hope you enjoyed your card!

I had a vision last night for a birthday card someone ordered...it's a combo of an idea by A Muse and Julie Ebersole with my own additions and flair. I really love the new SU Soft Sky paper...it's subtle but there's just enough blue and you can still color things and they'll show their true color! I used mini scalloped scissors for the grass. I then turned the scissors over and made water waves for the pirate ship and did a get well card for someone. What are you crafting up?

FORE!

I haven't 'scrapbooked' a card in ages....a few of my co-workers needed some golf cards so I decided to use an idea a friend in my stamp club used. She tore her paper but I decided to use mini scalloped scissors on mine, a trick I recently saw on a website. I forgot to paint a white ball on the green so I'll do that before I give them to the 'customer'! Enjoy!

Shop, Eat, Laugh, REPEAT!

Well, I went to my first stamping convention in Greenville, SC this weekend. Boy did I spend money and have a great time with a great bunch of ladies! We laughed a lot, we ate a lot more, and we shopped our brains out on Friday, then we did it again on Saturday AND Sunday! Above are my highlights and to the left is an album of all of my friends and our adventures! I bought 54 misc and 41 holiday stamps and some cards and paper and misc embellishments! I'm OUT OF CONTROL! I haven't even added up the receipts! I also visited Hobby Lobby for the first time so that was a treat. I even made a card at the convention that looks cream in real life but the scanner wouldn't cooperate! Enjoy the pictures!
